Player Skills
by impleri
Player Skills is a library that gives each player tracked skill values, with a registry of the skill types a game can use and a record of which skills each player has.
What it does
Other mods build on it, such as Item Skills, Block Skills, Mob Skills, Dimension Skills and Fluid Skills, which all require it. The library supplies a baseline implementation of player-specific skills and is kept deliberately unopinionated, so a pack can shape the system to its own purposes. Skills come in several kinds: basic skills are simple true or false flags, numeric skills hold integer values such as 0, 1 or 2, and tiered or specialized skills use numeric strings. A specialization skill lets a player choose one or more specializations from a list, for example a magic type.
Each skill is tracked as data attached to a player and is saved in the player's NBT data, so skill values persist across sessions. A skill type handles the logic for managing the skills tied to it, including how the skill is serialized into a persistent format and what threshold counts as sufficient for an action. Architectury API is required. CraftTweaker, Just Enough Items (JEI), KubeJS and Roughly Enough Items (REI) are optional, and skills are exposed through KubeJS so modpack authors can read and change them. Player Skills runs on client and server, and its source code is available under the MIT License, so it is open source.
Key features
Registry of skill types
A registry tracks which skills are possible and which skills each player has been given, similar to how GameStages and GamePhases track their entries.
Skills checked immediately
Skills are added to a player at once, so other code can check a player's ability through the skill system without waiting for a restart.
Persistent player data
Skill values are saved in player-specific NBT data and reloaded with the player.
Restrictions for dimensions and conditions
Restrictions decide whether a player can act based on a set of conditions, such as the current dimension, and can act as replacements for a target resource.
Compatibility
Latest build for each game version and loader.
Only full game releases are shown. This mod publishes no snapshot builds.

What the author says
A library mod that provides a baseline implementation of player-specific skills. On its own, this does very little as it is meant to be as un-opinionated as possible. Like GameStages and GamePhases, this provides a registry for tracking possible skills as well what skills a given player currently possesses. Unlike…
