Place Anywhere
by gutianhuan
Place Anywhere lets players place blocks at positions off the integer grid and rotate them to arbitrary angles, and it works in survival mode.
What it does
Pressing G toggles a free placement mode, in which a block lands at decimal coordinates on the surface the player is looking at instead of snapping to the grid. Rotation is handled on three axes that follow the Tait-Bryan ZYX convention, cycled with V in aerospace order. The mouse wheel adjusts the selected axis by 15 degrees per step, or by 5 degrees while Shift is held, so angles such as 37 or 12.5 degrees are reachable where vanilla only snaps to 90-degree steps.
The core free placement system is provided by Place Anywhere Core, which must be installed alongside this mod. Because left-click and right-click both stay active in the mode, players may break or place blocks more often by accident, and the mod is still in early development with a number of known bugs. Servers that run it need every player to install it too. The mod is published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, with builds for 1.18.2, 1.19.2, 1.19.4, 1.20.1, 1.20.6 and 1.21.1, under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only.
Key features
Free block placement
Blocks are placed at decimal coordinates on the surface being looked at, instead of snapping to the integer grid.
Continuous rotation
Blocks rotate to any angle on three axes, adjusted with the mouse wheel in steps of 15 or 5 degrees.
Placement preview
A ghost wireframe shows the exact result before placing, colored green when valid and red when overlapping.
Collision outline
A second wireframe displays the true collision shape of the block, useful for slabs, stairs and fences.
