Pin Tooltips lets a player hold a tooltip open on screen, so enchantment and mob effect descriptions stay readable while the cursor moves away.

What it does

Pressing Left ALT and the middle mouse button pins the tooltip currently under the cursor, and the same combination unpins it. Pinned tooltips persist after leaving the game. By default a tooltip stays on screen only while it is temporarily pinned, until the cursor leaves it. The mod shows more detail than the vanilla tooltip, including enchantment and mob effect descriptions.

Pin Tooltips requires Fabric API, Forgified Fabric API and Kiwi. Only the player's game needs it, and servers run without it. The mod is published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt across five release versions, 1.20.1 – 26.1.2, and is released under All rights reserved, so it is not open source. Public links exist for the source code and the issue tracker.

Key features

  1. Pin the current tooltip

    Left ALT with a middle mouse click pins the tooltip under the cursor so it stays visible.

  2. Unpin tooltips

    The same key combination removes a pinned tooltip, and tooltips can be unpinned individually.

  3. Enchantment and effect descriptions

    Pinned tooltips show expanded descriptions for enchantments and mob effects.

  4. Jade and Tinkers Construct support

    With Jade installed, a tooltip shows which mod added an enchantment or effect; with Tinkers Construct installed, trait descriptions appear in tooltips.

This mod adds the ability to pin tooltips to the screen and view more information from them such as enchantment and mob effect descriptions. By default, when you stay on a tooltip for a while, it will be temporarily pinned until the cursor leaves.
