Pick Up Filter (PUF)

by lZuzi

Pick Up Filter, abbreviated PUF, lets control items pick up only the item types a player chooses, through commands typed in the in-game chat.

FabricForgeNeoForgeQuiltClient or server, optionalGNU General Public License v3.0 onlyOpen source1.21.5 – 1.21.8

What it does

The filter decides which items a control item is allowed to collect. A player adds items to a filter list, and only those items are picked up by the control item. Commands for managing the list are shown in the in-game chat, so players can work through the filter without leaving the game. Changes to the filter list take effect straight away, with no restart or reload step needed.

Fabric API is required, and the mod is published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt across four release versions, 1.21.5 – 1.21.8. Either side can run it, and neither needs it. The mod is open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only, with source code, an issue tracker and a wiki linked from its listing.

Key features

  1. Item pickup filter

A control item collects only the items that are on its filter list, so other drops are left on the ground.

  2. In-game command help

A list of the available commands is displayed in the in-game chat, so the commands do not have to be memorized.

  3. Toggle the filter off

The filter can be switched off, which returns the control item to picking up everything again.

  4. Remove filtered items

Individual items can be taken off the filter list again when a player no longer wants them picked up.

  5. Delete-anything filter

A filter entry can be set to match any item, and the filter list reloads automatically after each change.
