Overgeared
by StirDrem
Overgeared is a Minecraft minigame mod that overhauls how tools and armor are crafted, replacing the classic crafting table recipes with a forging system.
What it does
Forging begins at a Smithing Anvil, which a player makes by sneaking and right-clicking a vanilla Anvil. The ingredients are placed in a 3×3 grid and forging is activated with a Smithing Hammer. A timed hit minigame then sets the Forging Quality of the result, and blueprints define the highest quality a given item can reach. Stone tool parts are made in a click-based 3×3 interface, and an early-game option covers simple forging.
The mod adds a complete steel tier as a bridge between iron and diamond, with steel, copper, wooden, iron and some polished or unpolished tool head variants. Diamond items are no longer crafted at the crafting table. Tool Casts can duplicate tool heads at the cost of quality. Overgeared is open source under the MIT License and runs on client and server. Files are published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, with builds for 1.20.1 – 1.21.1 and 1.20.6 as the latest Fabric file. It is required by 7 other mods, including Overgeared x Epic Knights and Rough Gems.

Use cases
Long progression runs
Players who want crafting to take more effort than the vanilla recipes can follow the full forging path from stone tools to steel and diamond gear.
Multiplayer servers
Server owners run the mod on the server and every player joins with it installed.
Who it’s for: Players who want a slower, skill-based crafting process for tools and armor, and server owners who run forging progression for their players.
