Cobblemon: Research Tasks
by JorgaoMC
Players who want quest-like goals for Cobblemon can add Research Tasks, which gives each Pokémon a set of tasks and rewards to complete.
What it does
Each Pokémon receives a default list of research tasks with rewards, and the list works in single-player and on servers as soon as the mod is installed. Tasks cover evolving, defeating specific Pokémon types, raising friendship, leveling, fishing and riding. Pokémon that cannot be fished, have no pre-evolution or cannot be ridden have five or six tasks instead of eight.
Modpack creators and server owners can change most of the system: adding or removing tasks for each Pokémon, changing the required amounts, altering the rewards per Pokémon and changing the rewards for the seven tiers of total completion in the Research Book. The Research Book is given when a player first enters the world and can also be crafted. The mod requires Cobblemon and runs on the client and the server, so both need it. It is released under the MIT License, is not open source, and is published for Fabric for 1.21.1 with version 2.0 as the latest file, dated 2026-02-04.
Key features
Per-Pokémon task lists
Every Pokémon has its own set of research tasks, such as evolving into a final form or defeating a Pokémon of a given type.
Friendship and riding goals
Tasks ask for a friendship level of 100 or more, or for riding a Pokémon for 3000 blocks.
Research Book tiers
Seven tiers of total completion in the Research Book carry their own rewards, which server owners can change.
Configurable tasks
Required amounts, task lists and rewards can all be edited, so a modpack can use its own progression.
