Mega's Arms
by MegaPig
Mega's Arms, by MegaPig, adds 27 historical weapons, a forging minigame and a set of combat rules to Forge and NeoForge.
What it does
The weapons cover swords, polearms, daggers, maces and axes, made from wood, copper, gold, iron and netherite. Each is crafted in stages: wooden weapons at a workbench, copper and gold at a Forge, and steel and netherite at a Nether Forge. Metal weapons are forged through a separate minigame, which is not needed for wooden ones.
Forging happens at a crafting station where a heated ingot is struck with a hammer, and the ingot cools unless it is reheated in a furnace. After the last strike it is quenched in a water bucket. Smithing hammers come in several tiers, and each tier is needed for the weapons of the tiers below it, so a netherite hammer can make every lower weapon. Hammers also break some blocks, such as cobblestone and gravel, with special interactions.
Installation covers the server and each player's game. It is released under All rights reserved and is not open source. Files exist for 1.20.1 – 1.21.1 on Forge and NeoForge, with the latest Forge file for 1.20.6 and the latest NeoForge file for 1.21.1.
Key features
Historical weapon set
27 weapons across swords, polearms, daggers, maces and axes, made from five materials.
Forging minigame
Metal ingots are heated, struck and quenched in a timed sequence with physics-based pickup and throwing.
Dynamic blocking and parrying
Blocking and parrying respond to timing, and a weapon's guard value absorbs damage until it breaks and goes on cooldown.
Armor penetration and reach
Weapons can add armor penetration and attack reach, and two-handed weapons use a wielding attribute.
Armed mobs
Some mobs spawn with weapons and extra armor, which raises the difficulty of encounters.
