Rough Gems
by _ivaan26_
Rough Gems, a NeoForge game mechanics mod for 1.21.1, lets a grindstone turn diamond and redstone into rough gems that can then be processed further.
What it does
The grindstone processes diamonds and redstone into rough gems, and the rough gems can be processed again. The mod requires Overgeared to run. Both sides need it, so the server and every player install Rough Gems and Overgeared.
The mod is released under the MIT License and is not open source. Its only published build is 1.0.0 for 1.21.1, dated 2026-04-05, and it has not been updated since. Rough gems are planned as an ingredient for other mods, and ore drops are planned to gain compatibility with other ores in the future.
Key features
Grindstone processing
A grindstone turns diamonds and redstone into rough gems, adding a processing step to these materials.
Second grinding pass
Rough gems can be processed again on the grindstone, so the same material goes through two stages.
Planned ore support
Ore drops such as cobblestone and cobbled deepslate are planned to gain compatibility with other ores later.

What the author says
Makes so both diamond and redstone are rough gems and have to be processed to be used. I will add more uses for just the rough gems itselves on the near future on other mods. All ores now also drop cobblestone or cobbled deepslate, I will add compatibility for other ores in the near future.
