Ore Finder adds an Advanced Ore Scanner that reveals ore distributions underground, with upgrades that adjust its scanning radius and depth.
What it does
The scanner is a device that scans the ground directly and shows where ores lie, so digging through a vast world becomes less aimless. Its scanning capability depends on two key attributes, and the scanner's main strength is how far those attributes can be tuned. Attributes are adjusted at a crafting table, using iron ingots and gold ingots as upgrade materials.
Upgrades can be combined: several iron ingots placed in the grid together produce combined effects, and their result depends on which squares they occupy. Placing one above, below, left or right of the scanner changes the net effect. Mods of this kind are published for Fabric and Quilt, and the environment is client and server, so the server and every player need the mod. The code is MIT licensed, and the mod is not open source. Files exist for 1.20.1, released 2025-09-18 on the beta channel.
