ModsChecker

by stressed_out

ModsChecker compares the current mod list with the one a singleplayer world last loaded, so a changed setup is caught before the world opens.

FabricClient-side onlyMIT License1.20 – 1.20.1

What it does

Before a singleplayer world loads, ModsChecker compares the mods now installed with the environment the world was last loaded under. It reports mods that were added, removed or updated, which helps when a changed mod list might damage a save. After a successful load, the current mod list is copied and kept for later comparisons.

The mod is a client-only utility, so only the player's game needs it and a server or multiplayer session runs without it. It requires Fabric API and works with Fabric for Minecraft 1.20.1. Builds exist for 1.20 and 1.20.1, and the Fabric file 1.0 for 1.20.1 was published on 2025-06-28 under the MIT License. The code is not open source.

Key features

  1. Mod list comparison

Current mods are checked against the list stored from the last successful load of a singleplayer world.

  2. Change report

Mods that were added, removed or updated since that load are listed before the world is opened.

  3. Saved mod list

After a successful load, the current mod list is copied so future comparisons have a reference point.

  4. Safer world data

The mod leaves world data alone, which reduces the chance of a crash that corrupts a save.
