NoCoralDecay
by RedFolder
NoCoralDecay adds a game rule that stops live coral from dying when it is not next to water, so coral placed on land stays alive.
What it does
In the base game, live coral is converted to dead coral when no water touches it. The mod adds the doCoralDecay game rule, which controls this conversion. With the rule set to false, coral blocks, coral plants and coral fans stay alive even outside water. Setting it back to true makes coral decay work normally again.
The rule is set by server owners or by players who can run game rule commands, and it applies to the world it is set in. It starts as true, so installing the mod changes nothing until the rule is turned off. It is published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 45 release versions, 1.13.2 – 26.2, and is server-side only, so players join without installing it. The code is not open source; a source link is provided, and the mod is released under All rights reserved.
Coral Decay, a small Forge 1.20.1 mod, uses the same idea of a real gamerule for coral decay, but NoCoralDecay covers the wider range of versions listed here.
Key features
doCoralDecay game rule
A single game rule controls whether live coral dies out of water, and it can be changed without editing any files.
Living coral on land
Coral blocks, coral plants and coral fans remain alive when placed away from water while the rule is false.
Restore vanilla decay
Setting the rule back to true returns coral to the normal behavior of the base game.
Default behavior kept
The rule starts as true, so the vanilla decay stays in place until a server owner chooses to disable it.

Use cases
Who it’s for: Server owners who want coral to remain alive away from water, and players on those servers who build with coral. Because the mod is server-side only, only the server needs it.
How it compares
Coral Craft is a Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt mod for 1.21 – 26.2 under All rights reserved, and it is not open source; only the server has to run it, and a player's client can be left without it. Craftable Coral Block covers 1.21 – 1.21.1 on the same four loaders and is shared under the Creative Commons Attribution Non Commercial Share Alike 4.0 license, with the server needing it and the client free to skip it. NoCoralDecay is server-side only and works on Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, changing a single rule rather than adding coral blocks.
