Dynamic Flashlight
by RedFolder
Dynamic Flashlight gives the player a battery-powered handheld light whose beam is shaped by range, angle, spill and falloff settings.
What it does
A flashlight in this mod projects a directional beam rather than the even glow of a placed torch. Its beam has adjustable range, brightness, angle, spill and falloff, and the power switch and battery reload are animated. Battery charge drains automatically while the light is on, and the player reloads the battery to continue. Entity glow is also configurable.
The light is meant for caves, night builds, horror maps and survival exploration, where a moving beam changes how terrain across floors, walls and ceilings reads. Nearby players can see the beam, and a server owner can optionally enable temporary light blocks that brighten the world for everyone. Battery drain, reloads and other gameplay values are set in a server config.
The mod runs on Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, and it needs both the server and every player. Files cover 1.12.2, 1.20.1 – 26.2 across 22 release versions, and the latest Fabric and NeoForge builds target 26.2. The code is not open source, and the mod is released under All rights reserved.
Key features
Directional flashlight beam
The light projects a smooth, shaped beam with adjustable range, angle, brightness and soft spill falloff.
Battery power and reloads
Charge drains automatically while the light is on, and an animated reload loop refills the battery.
Visible beams for other players
Nearby players see the beam of a flashlight in use, so the light is part of the shared scene.
Optional temporary light blocks
Server owners can enable light blocks that brighten the real world around a flashlight, and the setting is off by default.
