NoChatFade

by Koi-MC

NoChatFade keeps chat messages visible on screen for longer, so text stops fading out while a player is still reading it.

FabricClient-side onlyAll rights reserved1.21.8 – 26.3

What it does

The mod stops chat lines from fading out on their normal timer, so messages stay on screen for as long as the player needs to read them. Only the client needs it, and servers run without it, which makes it a client-side change that changes nothing on the server side.

The mod targets the Fabric loader and needs Fabric API. Mod Menu is optional and adds a settings screen for the mod. Files cover Minecraft 1.21.8 – 26.3 in nine release versions, with 1.0+mc26.3 for 26.3 as the latest. The mod is not open source; its All rights reserved license applies, though the source code is publicly available.

Key features

  1. Chat stays visible

Chat lines remain on screen instead of fading out after the usual delay, so players can read long or busy conversations.

  2. Fits the accessibility options

It builds on the chat visibility options the base game already has, aimed at players who need more reading time.

  3. Quality-of-life focus

The change is small and limited to chat display, so the rest of the interface and gameplay stay as they are.

  4. Optional settings screen

With Mod Menu installed, a settings screen lets players change the mod's options without editing files by hand.

Use cases

Reading fast chat

Players in busy multiplayer chats can keep earlier messages visible while they type or play.

Slower reading

Players who take longer to read text can keep messages on screen without repeatedly checking the chat log.

Who it’s for: Players who find chat fades too quickly, and players who want the base game's chat display to hold messages longer on Fabric. Servers do not need to change anything.

Questions

Does NoChatFade need Fabric API?

Yes. Fabric API is required for versions below Minecraft 26.1, so install it alongside the mod on those versions.

Does a server need NoChatFade installed?

No. The mod is client-side only, so only the player's client runs it and the server can omit it.

Is the source code available?

Public links exist for the source code, but the mod is not open source and its All rights reserved license still applies.
