No Increasing Repair Cost

by CursedFlames

No Increasing Repair Cost stops anvil repair and enchantment costs from rising each time an item is worked on.

FabricNeoForgeClient and serverMIT LicenseOpen source1.21 – 26.1

What it does

Anvils normally make repairing or enchanting a heavily used item more expensive with every pass. This mod keeps the anvil cost at the same level for an item that has not been enchanted or repaired before, so long-lived gear stays affordable to maintain. It is a client and server mod, so both the server and every player need it. Fabric API is required, and files are published for Fabric and NeoForge for game versions 1.21 – 26.1, under the MIT License, and the code is open source.

Key features

  1. Flat anvil cost

The anvil cost stays the same for an item that has not been enchanted or repaired before, instead of climbing with each use.

  2. Practical mending

Because long-used tools stay affordable to fix, the Mending enchantment becomes a workable way to keep gear in shape.

  3. Fabric and NeoForge builds

The mod ships separate builds for Fabric and NeoForge, with 26.1 as the latest file for both loaders.

How it compares

Full comparison

Fixed Anvil Repair Cost covers a similar anvil change but is server-side only and published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt across 1.16.5 – 26.3, under All rights reserved, so it is not open source. Mending Rework is server-side only, open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 or later, and published for Fabric and NeoForge for 1.21.1 – 1.21.11, so it targets the Mending enchantment rather than the anvil cost.

What the author says

Disables the increasing repair/enchant cost on items in anvils, meaning things will no longer be too expensive, and repairing items instead of using mending is finally viable. Specifically, the anvil cost will always be the same as if the item hasn't been enchanted/repaired before.
