Mob Conduit

by TarmacSr

Mob Conduit is a server-side mod that stops hostile mobs from spawning in a radius around a conduit-shaped structure built from netherite and obsidian blocks.

FabricNeoForgeServer-side onlyMIT LicenseOpen source26.2

What it does

A conduit frame is assembled from netherite blocks in three rings, with an obsidian middle and an end crystal placed in it. The full 42-block frame gives a 128-block radius, and a 16-block frame gives a 64-block radius. Inside that radius, natural hostile spawns stop, while spawners, trial spawners, spawn eggs, breeding and summoning keep working, so a mob farm placed inside still functions. Passive and neutral mobs are ignored.

Hostile mobs already inside the radius when the conduit is lit are removed rather than killed, so they leave no drops or XP orbs. Removals are staggered across several ticks, which keeps even a few hundred mobs from causing a lag spike on the server. A config option can turn drops back on, and the spawn suppression can be switched off on its own if a server only wants the removal behavior.

The mod is built from vanilla blocks and runs on Fabric or NeoForge with Fabric API required. It is server-side only, so players join without installing anything. The code is open source under the MIT License, and the project publishes its source code and issue tracker.

Key features

  1. Configurable conduit frame

A three-ring frame of netherite blocks, with obsidian and an end crystal at the center, sets the spawn suppression radius.

  2. Hostile spawn suppression

Natural hostile spawns stop inside the radius, while spawners, trial spawners and mob farms continue to work.

  3. Gradual mob removal

Hostile mobs already inside the radius are removed over several ticks, with no drops or XP orbs unless a config option enables them.

  4. Open-air placement

The conduit works in the open air, so it needs no enclosed room to take effect.

Questions

Does Mob Conduit require Fabric API?

Yes. Fabric API is a required dependency on Fabric. The mod is published for Fabric and NeoForge, and it is only available for 26.2.

Do players need to install Mob Conduit?

No. Only the server needs it, and players join without installing anything.

Are dropped items and XP from removed mobs kept?

By default, removed hostile mobs leave no drops or XP orbs. A config option lets the server enable drops if it wants them.
