What it does

Mithril is a Fabric mod that adds a set of mithril tools, weapons and armor. The material is found at Y-level 20 and as low as Y-level -64, and its stats fall between diamond and netherite, while durability is much higher, at 3000. The mod is meant to fill the gap between those two tiers by giving each item a unique function rather than plain stat increases. Installation needs Fabric API, and the mod runs on client and server, so both the server and every player need it. The latest file is 1.0.0 for 1.20.6, released 2024-12-29, and the code is available under the MIT License, though the project is not open source.

Some of the tools and armor have special abilities. A mithril helmet grants night vision while worn, a mithril axe connects log blocks when breaking a tree, and weapons have a chance to deal extra damage when they hit a mob. Files are published for six release versions, covering every release 1.20.1 – 1.20.6, so the same content is available across that range.
