Mindful Darkness
by Fuzs
Players who want darker menus can turn on Mindful Darkness, which darkens GUI textures automatically on the client without any resource pack.
What it does
Dark mode can be switched on or off in game, and its darkness intensity and darkening algorithm can be adjusted. The mod does not darken every GUI texture in the game by default. Server owners and players choose which textures are affected through a texture list in the config file, using a wildcard character, namespaces and an exclusion prefix. Entries are read in order, so a rule that excludes a resource has to be placed below any rule that would otherwise cover it.
The default setting covers textures in the GUI folder from every namespace, and excludes the minecraft:textures/gui/icons.png file. The config file is named after the mod ID with a client, common or server suffix, and sits in the config folder. In-game configuration is possible through a mod menu on Fabric.
Mindful Darkness is open source under the Mozilla Public License 2.0. Files are published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 17 release versions, 1.18.2 – 26.3, and the required dependencies are Fabric API, Forge Config API Port and Puzzles Lib.
