MC Folders
by LordMrK
MC Folders lets players sort worlds, resource packs and other game directories into folders of their choosing on Fabric for 1.18.2.
What it does
The mod allows the directories used for worlds and resource packs to be changed, so a player can keep those files in a location other than the default. A directory is only accepted when it exists on the computer, which prevents a setting from pointing at a path that is not there.
MC Folders runs on the client alone, so a server does not need it and players do not have to install it on the server side. Builds are published for Fabric only, for the single game version 1.18.2, under the CC0 1.0 Universal license, and the source code and issue tracker are public. Fabric API is a required dependency and must be installed next to the mod.
Key features
Custom world directory
Worlds can be read from a directory the player chooses instead of the default saves location.
Custom resource pack directory
Resource packs can be loaded from a separate directory, keeping them apart from the rest of the game files.
Directory validation
A path is only used when it points to an existing directory on the computer.
Cloth Config and Mod Menu support
The settings are set through Cloth Config, and the options screen opens from the Mod Menu list.

Use cases
Keeping worlds on another drive
A player with limited space on the system drive can point world saves at a larger disk.
Sharing resource packs across installs
Packs kept in one shared folder can be reached from several Minecraft instances.
Who it’s for: Players on Fabric 1.18.2 who want worlds or resource packs stored outside the default folders. Server owners do not need the mod, since it only runs on the client.
How it compares
ServerRPExposer is a Fabric client-side mod for 1.19 – 1.20.4 under the MIT License, so it covers later versions than MC Folders. Load My Resources is client-side only and open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only, with files for Fabric and Forge across 1.12 – 1.20.4, so it also reaches Forge. One place directory is limited to Fabric 1.21.7, and Shared Resources targets Fabric 1.16 – 1.21.4 under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only.
