MaterialExcavator

by paulevs

MaterialExcavator lets a single mining action break several blocks at once, with the radius set by the tool's material tier.

What it does

A key toggles multi-block mining, so one swing removes a patch of blocks instead of one. The radius of that patch depends on the material tier of the tool in hand, which means a stronger tool digs a wider area. Mining more blocks at once takes longer per action, so the extra reach comes with slower breaking for larger patches.

The mod is built on StationAPI, which is required, and it is published for Fabric and Babric only, for the single game version b1.7.3. Every player and the server need a copy of the mod. The code is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v2.1 only, and the project has public source code and an issue tracker. Snapshot builds are published alongside the release files.

Key features

  1. Multi-block mining

Breaking a block also breaks neighboring blocks in an area, so larger patches come down in one action.

  2. Key toggle

A key switches multi-block mining on and off, so the wider area can be turned off when it is not wanted.

  3. Tool-tier radius

The mined area grows with the material tier of the tool, so better tools cover a larger patch.

  4. Slower larger mining

Bigger patches take more time to finish, which trades speed for reach.

Use cases

Clearing large areas

Players who clear stone, dirt or ore across a wide surface can remove a patch in one action instead of block by block.

Who it’s for: Players of the beta release who want to dig several blocks at once, and server owners who want that mining on a shared world.
