BetterWeather replaces the weather rendering of Minecraft b1.7.3 with volumetric clouds, local rain and snow, and new rain sounds and visuals.

What it does

Clouds in b1.7.3 are flat, and BetterWeather draws them as tall, fluffy volumes roughly 32 to 64 blocks high with improved shading. Rain and snow are tied to the clouds, so precipitation forms inside rain fronts and moves along with them instead of covering the whole world evenly. Rain and snow rendering reaches farther distances through level-of-detail handling, and rain drops are drawn with circular ripple visuals.

The mod also changes the audio side of weather, with reworked rain effect sounds. Weather settings can be defined per dimension through dimension tags, including dimensions added by other mods. The mod is a library-category addition for the Babric and Fabric loaders and needs StationAPI to run.

BetterWeather is client and server, so both the server and every player need it. It is released under the MIT License and is open source, with the source code and issue tracker publicly available. It targets only b1.7.3, and snapshot builds are published.
