Better Than Ropes lets players throw rope coils that attach to a pillar of rope blocks and extend it, for Fabric on Minecraft b1.7.3.
What it does
The mod adds a throwable rope coil item. A coil thrown at a rope pillar attaches to it, and several coils thrown at the same pillar extend it. Where a placed rope pillar is obstructed, the remaining rope blocks drop to the ground as regular rope items instead of being lost.
Breaking a piece of rope while sneaking removes it and collects the rest of the rope below it in one action. The existing rope block item receives a new texture and a shorter rope length, and four regular rope pieces craft the coil, which makes spelunking more convenient.
The mod runs on Fabric for b1.7.3 only, and both the server and every player need it, since the environment is client and server. It is published by BillSchitt under All rights reserved, so it is not open source.
