Loded
by Nerjal_Nosk
Loded lets a lodestone compass copy another compass, so players can carry a navigation point from one compass to a second item.
What it does
A player combines a lodestone compass with another compass in the crafting grid, and the second compass takes on the lodestone target of the first. The operation costs two experience levels, and the first compass is kept. Loded checks three criteria before it copies: the first item must be a lodestone compass, the second must be the same item type, and both must pass the vanilla lodestone compass check.
Loded is a server-side only mod: the server runs it, and players join without installing anything. It is published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt across seven release versions, 1.19 – 1.20.4, and the latest files are 0.1.1+1.20.1 builds. The code is under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later, and it is open source, with public links for the source code and issue tracker.
Key features
Lodestone compass copying
A lodestone compass can copy its target onto another compass, so the second item points to the same lodestone.
Experience cost
The copy takes two experience levels, and the crafting result keeps the first compass.
Item tag matching
Compasses are read through a custom loded:compasses tag that extends the common compass tag, so modded compasses can take part.
Validated copies
Each copy must pass three checks, covering the lodestone compass type, the matching item type and the vanilla lodestone check.
Compatibility
Latest build for each game version and loader.
Only full game releases are shown. This mod publishes no snapshot builds.
Use cases
Shared navigation on a server
Server owners can give players a way to duplicate a lodestone target without finding a second lodestone each time.
Crafting a set of compasses
A single lodestone compass can be used to set up several compasses that point to the same place.
Who it’s for: Server owners and players on Fabric, Forge, NeoForge or Quilt who want lodestone compasses to copy their targets. Only the server needs the mod, so clients can join without it.
How it compares
Better Lodestones is a client and server mod under the MIT License for 1.20.1, on Fabric and Forge, and it is not open source. W.I.T.L is a client-side only Fabric mod for 1.20.4, released under the Apache License 2.0, and it is open source. Loded works on the server side alone and targets 1.19 – 1.20.4, which covers more versions than either.
