Locks Reforged
by otectus
Locks Reforged adds attachable locks and lock picks for Forge 1.20.1, with a pin-matching minigame for opening locked blocks.
What it does
Locks can be attached to doors, trapdoors, chests, furnaces, dispensers, hoppers and modded blocks, and one lock can cover several blocks at once. Locks come in tiers from wood up to netherite, and each tier sets how hard the lock is to pick, how it resists explosions and how likely it is to receive enchantments. Diamond and netherite locks are close to indestructible, and netherite locks survive lava like vanilla netherite gear. Locks and lock picks are data-driven, so custom tiers can be added through JSON files, while stats can be tweaked through TOML config files and datapacks without code changes.
Picking a lock opens a minigame in which the player matches pins to a hidden combination. Locks Reforged gives lock picking a harder pin-matching puzzle, since the number of pins can be raised so each lock takes longer to open. Some lock types react differently: shocking locks zap a player who fails an attempt and bypass armor, sturdy locks reduce pick effectiveness, complexity locks block lower-tier picks entirely, and silent locks suppress the rattle sound. It requires the client and server, so both must run it.
Key features
Attachable locks
Locks attach to doors, chests, furnaces and other blocks, and a single lock can cover several blocks at once.
Pin-matching lock picking
Players pick a lock by matching pins to a hidden combination, with more pins on harder locks.
Lock tiers and stats
Wood, copper, iron, steel, gold, diamond and netherite tiers differ in pick strength, enchantability and explosion resistance.
Special lock behaviors
Shocking, sturdy, complexity and silent locks each change how picking and access behave.
Configurable stats
Stats can be changed through TOML overrides and datapacks, and new lock tiers can be added with JSON files.
