Life Swap
by FROG__MAN
Life Swap changes how health moves between players and mobs: a kill transfers the target's max health to the killer, and a death can be reversed by respawning with the other player's.
What it does
Under Life Swap, killing an enemy swaps max health with that target, so the killer takes the victim's maximum while the victim keeps the killer's. Killing another player works the same way, and a player who dies respawns with the maximum health of the player who killed them. Dying of natural causes resets max health to the default of 20 HP, unless the persist mode option is enabled, in which case the value carries over.
Each swap is a gamble: beating a stronger mob raises a player's maximum, while losing a fight can cut it. Bosses such as the Warden are described as nearly unkillable for a weaker player, and small mobs like silverfish carry a different kind of risk. The server creates a config file on first launch where persist mode and other behavior can be adjusted.
Life Swap runs on the server alone, so players join without installing it. It requires Fabric Loader and Fabric API, targets Minecraft 1.21.9 – 1.21.11, and is released under the MIT License, though its code is not open source.
Key features
Max health swap on kill
Killing a mob or player exchanges maximum health with the target, so the victim's total becomes the killer's.
Respawn with the killer's health
A player killed by another respawns with the maximum health of the player who made the kill.
Persist mode
Without persist mode, a natural death resets max health to 20 HP; with it enabled, the value is kept.
Configurable file
A config file is created on first launch so the server owner can adjust how the swaps behave.
Compatibility
Latest build for each game version and loader.

Use cases
Who it’s for: Players who want a high-stakes health mechanic, and server owners who run survival or PvP worlds on Fabric or a Paper or Spigot server.
How it compares
Origin Swap is a Fabric mod for 1.21.11 that is client and server and all rights reserved, so it must be installed on both sides. Level Is Health is server-side only, open source under the Apache License 2.0, and covers 1.20.4 – 1.21.1, so players need nothing installed. XP Health is also server-side only and open source under the MIT License, but targets only 1.21.1.

What the author says
Life Swap turns every fight into a gamble — when you kill a mob or player, you inherit their max health. Take down a Warden and walk away nearly unkillable. Finish off by a Silverfish and, well... good luck. Every kill swaps your max health with your target's. No grinding, no tiers — just pure risk and reward.
