Less Annoying Fire

by Blumbo

Less Annoying Fire changes how fire behaves in several small ways, so burning and fire effects are easier to live with in play.

What it does

Less Annoying Fire is a Fabric mod that reduces some of the frustrations fire causes in Minecraft. Fire no longer interferes with player movement, which makes higher fire jumps possible as a side effect. Entities receive knockback while they are under the invincibility ticks that fire normally grants them, so hits still register. Explosions from a Respawn Anchor or a bed create less fire than they do in vanilla.

The mod also shrinks the fire overlay on the screen so it covers less of the view. Either side can run it, and neither needs it, and it is released under the MIT License as open source. Builds exist for 1.19.2, 1.19.3, 1.19.4, 1.20 and 1.20.1, with the newest file, 1.0.1-1.19.4, targeting 1.20.1 and dated 2023-06-06. Only the Fabric loader is supported.

Key features

  1. Movement unaffected by fire

Burning no longer disrupts the player's movement, which allows higher jumps while on fire.

  2. Knockback under invincibility

Entities still take knockback during the invincibility window that fire creates, so attacks keep their effect.

  3. Fewer fires from anchors and beds

Respawn Anchor and bed explosions produce less fire than in vanilla Minecraft.

  4. Smaller fire overlay

The on-screen fire overlay takes up less of the display, making the view clearer while burning.
