Keep Inventory Control
by Blumbo
Keep Inventory Control lets a server owner decide which items a player keeps after death, item by item, instead of all or nothing.
What it does
The mod gives control over which item types a player keeps when they die. It works through two lists: items on the whitelist are kept on death while the keepInventory gamerule is set to false, and items on the blacklist are dropped on death while keepInventory is set to true. The lists are universal, apply to every player, and can only be changed by a server operator in multiplayer.
Key features
Whitelisted items kept
Items on the whitelist stay in the inventory after death, even when the keepInventory gamerule is off.
Blacklisted items dropped
Items on the blacklist fall to the ground after death, even when keepInventory is on.
Server-controlled lists
Only the server owner or an operator edits the item lists, and the same lists apply to every player.
Compatibility

How it compares
Pickup Filter is also a server-side only option, under the MIT License and published for 1.20 – 1.20.1, but it governs item pickup rather than death drops. TagBan is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, runs on client and server, and is published for 1.20.1 on Fabric, Forge and NeoForge.
