Look Down Transparency
by eyeofgrey
Look Down Transparency makes the player model's armor turn transparent while the player looks downward, a client-side Fabric mod for 1.21.2 – 1.21.5.
What it does
When a player looks down, the armor on the player model fades, so the body beneath stays visible. The effect applies only to the rendered model and changes nothing about the armor itself, its durability or how it works in combat. The author notes it is especially useful when climbing down a ladder while using the First-person Model mod, since the view then shows the feet and the way down.
Only the client needs the mod, so servers and other players do not have to install it. Fabric API and Cloth Config API are required, and Mod Menu and First-person Model are optional. Builds cover 1.21.2 – 1.21.5, and the latest file, 0.5.0+1.21.5, targets 1.21.5. The code is licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, and the mod is open source with public links to its source and issue tracker.
Key features
Armor transparency while looking down
Armor on the player model becomes see-through when the view angle points downward, and returns to normal when the view rises.
Descending ladders
Combined with First-person Model, the faded armor lets a player see the ladder and the blocks below while climbing down.
Configurable options
Settings are exposed through Cloth Config, and Mod Menu can open them from the game menu.

Use cases
Climbing down in first person
Players who use a first-person model can keep the lower body and footing in view while descending a ladder or shaft.
Who it’s for: Players who use the first-person view and want the armor on their own model to stop blocking the ground below. It suits solo players and clients that join any server, since no server-side install is needed.
