Launchpad

by Sinytra

Launchpad is a small tool library that lets Fabric-style NeoForge mods load on NeoForge without a full native port.

NeoForgeClient or server, optionalGPL-3.0-only WITH Classpath-exception-2.026.1 – 26.2

What it does

Launchpad reads Fabric mod metadata from fabric.mod.json files and runs Fabric mod entrypoints, both standard and custom, so a mod written against Fabric conventions can start on NeoForge. It also applies access transformation through Class Tweaker and Access Widener files, and it provides certain extensions beyond the Fabric standard described in its usage notes. Its author notes that it suits small and medium Fabric mods that could already run with NeoForge after a final adjustment.

Launchpad loads nested jar dependencies, which allows a Fabric mod to bring its own libraries. A mod that depends on Launchpad usually needs only small changes, mainly to its Mixins, and a final push is needed for it to load. Developers who want a mod on NeoForge without a full native port can consider Launchpad; those who plan to call NeoForge APIs heavily may prefer a native port built with the MultiLoader template. Installation and usage instructions are in the project repository.

Key features

  1. Fabric metadata support

Fabric mod metadata in fabric.mod.json files is read so the mod can be recognized and loaded.

  2. Entrypoint execution

Standard and custom Fabric entrypoints are run, letting Fabric-style initialization code execute.

  3. Access transformation

Class Tweaker and Access Widener files are applied to change access to classes, methods and fields.

  4. Nested jar loading

Nested jar dependencies are loaded, so libraries bundled with a Fabric mod are available at runtime.

Use cases

Porting a Fabric mod

A developer can bring a small or medium-sized Fabric mod to NeoForge without rewriting it, accepting the extra dependency that Launchpad brings.

Running dependent mods

Mods that require Launchpad, such as Sinytra Connector and Superb Steeds, need it installed to start on NeoForge.

Who it’s for: Mod developers who build with Fabric conventions and want their mod on NeoForge, and server owners running a Fabric-style mod that depends on Launchpad.

Questions

Does Launchpad need to be installed on both sides?

No. It works on either a client or a server, and neither side needs it for the mod to run, so installing it on one side is enough.

Which mods require Launchpad?

Sixteen catalog mods require it, for example Sinytra Connector, Respawnable Pets, Lost Relics, Superb Steeds and Enchancement.

Can Launchpad replace a full native NeoForge port?

Launchpad suits small and medium-sized Fabric mods with only small Mixin changes. Mods that call NeoForge APIs heavily are better served by a native port built with the MultiLoader template.

In the catalog

Launchpad is one of 3,514 Library mods on ModsFinder, and one of 1,449 Library mods for NeoForge. 13,894 mods support Minecraft 26.2.
