Lantern Trails

by Nhbybnb

Lantern Trails makes light particles follow a player who is holding a lantern, leaving a glowing path behind them as they explore.

FabricForgeClient and serverAll rights reserved1.19.2 – 1.20.1

What it does

While a player holds a lantern, light particles drift along behind them, so the route they have walked stays visible as a line of glow. The effect is purely visual: it places no blocks, changes no terrain and adds no items beyond what the mod itself provides. Players can use it to mark a trail for friends to follow, or simply for the look of the light moving through a dark cave or forest at night.

Both the server and every player need the mod, because the particles are produced on each client and the server must accept the same installation. Lantern Trails is published for Fabric and Forge, with files for 1.19.2, 1.19.4 and 1.20.1. The code is not open source; it is released under All rights reserved.

The author describes the visuals as performance-friendly and says they work alongside other visual mods. These are the author's claims and the catalog has not measured them.

Key features

  1. Trailing light particles

Light particles spawn behind the player while a lantern is held, forming a visible path of glow.

  2. Lantern-driven effect

The trail appears only while a lantern is held in hand, so it stops when the player puts the lantern away.

  3. Light in dark areas

The particles make it easier to follow the route through caves, forests and other dark places at night.

  4. Visual-only design

The mod changes how the trail looks and does not alter blocks, terrain or world generation.
