Lag'B'Gon Revived is a Forge utility for Minecraft 1.12.2 that clears and limits entities and items on a server, either on a timer or on command.

What it does

Lag'B'Gon Revived continues Lag'B'Gon Reborn and focuses on the same job: reducing server lag caused by large numbers of entities and dropped items. It can force-clear entities and items, force-unload chunks, cap the number of entities spawning per chunk and narrow the radius in which animals breed. Each of these actions can be run by hand through a command or set to happen automatically.

Most settings are changed in game through commands under the alias bgon, so the config file is rarely needed. By default the clearing and spawn limits skip bosses and tamed animals. Some vanilla Minecraft entities are on a blacklist from the start, and the author recommends taking time to set up black and whitelists before running the mod on a live server. The mod works in single-player too, and the author states it has been tested, though automatic clearing can still remove items or mobs players wanted, so backups are advised. Issues can be reported on GitHub, and the source code is public under the MIT License, which makes the mod open source.

Key features

  1. Forced entity and item clearing

A command removes entities and dropped items immediately, and the same action can run automatically at set intervals.

  2. Forced chunk unloading

Chunks can be unloaded by command or automatically, freeing server resources from areas no one is using.

  3. Entity spawn limits per chunk

The number of entities allowed to spawn in each chunk is capped, and bosses and tamed animals are exempt by default.

  4. Animal breeding radius

The distance in which animals can breed is limited, which keeps large animal farms from overloading the server.

  5. Blacklists and whitelists

Entities and items can be placed on lists that protect them from clearing or restrict which ones are affected.
