Item Regex lets a regular expression select item models in vanilla rename-based format, so a single pattern can match many item names at once.
What it does
Vanilla rename-based item models normally need an exact string for each name. This mod accepts a regex, with the keywords regex, iregex, pattern and ipattern, so one entry can cover a whole group of renamed items. The case-sensitive and case-insensitive forms differ only in whether letter case is checked.
The mod reads the existing JSON model format, so packs that already edit those files keep working without a new syntax. It does not change how vanilla behaves, and a texture pack can still resolve normal item names as before. Items renamed with the iregex prefix, such as a Darksaber Hilt example, are matched the same way.
Item Regex is a Fabric mod with the client-side only environment, so only the client needs it and a server can run without it. It is open source under the Mozilla Public License 2.0, and its source code is public. Files target 1.21.5 – 26.3 across twelve release versions, with snapshot builds also published; the latest Fabric file is 1.2.0 for 26.3, released 2026-03-22.
