Item Catcher
by Pepsied
Item Catcher keeps dropped items from being lost by collecting them before they despawn, catching them as they fall into the void.
What it does
Items that fall into the void, are destroyed by an explosion, burn in fire or lava, or are damaged by a cactus can be caught and collected before they vanish. Experience orbs are gathered the same way. The mod can also make dropped items invulnerable, so they stay on the ground instead of being destroyed.
The mod suits Skyblock and other limited-space worlds, where losing a sapling or a single valuable stack to the void can set a player back. Common mob drops such as cactus-related items can be excluded from the collection rules, and items the player dropped themselves can be handled differently from items generated by the world. Server owners configure these choices.
The server needs the mod; players may add it. Item Catcher is published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, with files for 1.21 – 26.1.2 and 1.0.1+mod as the latest build for 26.1.2. The code is released under the MIT License, and the mod is not open source.

Who it’s for: Server owners running Skyblock or survival servers with limited space, and players who lose items often to void, fire or explosions.
How it compares
NMID No More Item Despawn is also a server-required mod with the client optional, and targets item despawn, with files for 1.21 – 26.3 under the MIT License and no open source status. Auto saplinging also needs the server, with the client optional, with files for 1.21 – 1.21.4 under the MIT License, and it focuses on saplings rather than all dropped items.

What the author says
While this mod is perfect for Skyblock, it's not limited to it. I know I've had my fair share of losing the sapling of the first tree in Skyblock to the void.
