Potted Farms

Potted Farms lets a clay pot holding a sapling or other growable act as a tree farm when hoppers and an item frame are placed around it, so an axe can harvest it on a timer.

What it does

A farm is built from two hoppers, an item frame and a clay pot. The pot holds a sapling, a bush or another growable block, and an axe placed in the item frame does the harvesting. Each harvest sends the loot down a hopper into a chest or collector, which lets a farm run without manual chopping. Farms can be extended with more hoppers feeding the main hopper.

The mod is server required, with the client optional, so a server owner installs it and players can join without it. It is released under the MIT License and is not open source. Files are published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, for game versions 1.21 – 26.2 across 16 release versions, with 1.1.2+mod for 26.2 as the latest build, dated 2025-05-17. A data pack form is also available for servers.

  1. Potted tree harvesting

    A clay pot with a sapling or bush can be harvested automatically by an axe in an item frame.

  2. Axe cooldowns and durability

    Different axes have different cooldowns, and each harvest costs durability, which the axe loses unless it is enchanted with Unbreaking or Mending.

  3. Hopper loot collection

    Loot is pushed into hoppers, and the axe is kept from breaking when it reaches one durability left.

  4. Silk Touch and special farms

    Silk Touch yields leaves instead of saplings and logs, while mushrooms, cocoa, vines, roots and shroomlights each have their own drops.
