Inferno

by MoriyaShiine

With Inferno, fire spreads and burns differently, and logs left in a blaze turn into Charred Logs that drop Charcoal.

What it does

Inferno changes how fire works in the world. Fire spreads more readily near other fire, and more fire nearby produces denser smoke. Logs that burn can turn into Charred Logs, which drop one to four Charcoal when broken, and Silk Touch keeps the logs intact. Grass Blocks become flammable and can be scorched into Scorched Earth. Bone Meal fertilizes Scorched Earth so that it grows a range of new plants, and the scorched ground also heals on its own during rain.

Scorched Earth can rarely spawn a Shining Oak Sapling, which grows into a tree that does not burn and carries its own set of wood blocks. Placing a block of Iron or Gold, or the raw block of either metal, beneath the ground under a sapling makes it grow a tree of the matching type, with leaves that are either iron or golden, chosen at random. The mod needs Fabric API or Forgified Fabric API, Launchpad and StrawberryLib, and it bundles MidnightLib. It is published for Fabric, NeoForge and Quilt across 12 release versions, 1.21.5 – 26.3, and it runs on client and server, so both the server and every player need it. The code is not open source, and all rights are reserved.

Key features

  1. Changed fire behavior

Fire spreads in new ways, and more fire nearby gives rise to more intense smoke.

  2. Charred Logs and Charcoal

Burning logs can become Charred Logs, which drop one to four Charcoal when broken.

  3. Scorched Earth and new plants

Grass Blocks can be scorched and then fertilized with Bone Meal to grow several new plant types.

  4. Shining Oak trees

Scorched Earth can spawn a Shining Oak Sapling, which grows a tree that resists fire.

  5. Metal-driven tree types

Iron or Gold blocks placed beneath a sapling choose which kind of tree it grows.
