Immersive Optimization
by Luke100000
With Immersive Optimization installed on a server, entity and block entity ticks are spread across several game ticks to reduce lag.
What it does
The mod slows the tick rate of entities and block entities gradually instead of processing all of them every tick. Updates are distributed over multiple ticks, which flattens lag spikes, and the tick rate adjusts with the load on the server. It does not disable ticking entirely, so farms and entities far from players keep working.
Immersive Optimization is server-side only, so players join without installing it. It requires Fabric API and is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later; the code is open source. Builds cover 1.20.1 – 26.2 across Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, with files for 1.20.1, 1.21, 1.21.1, 1.21.11, 26.1.2 and 26.2. The latest Fabric and NeoForge files target 26.2, and the latest Forge file targets 1.21.11, all dated 2026-07-14.
Key features
Gradual entity slowdown
Entities and block entities receive updates at a reduced rate that grows as the server becomes busier.
Distributed updates
Work is split across several ticks so that heavy entity processing does not land in a single frame.
Load-based tick rate
The tick rate of entities is adjusted automatically according to the current load on the server.
Configuration commands
Commands under the /io prefix let server administrators inspect and change the tick behavior.

Use cases
Busy survival servers
Servers with many mobs and machines can reduce tick time without removing active entities.
Farms and distant mobs
Mob farms and entities far from players keep running, since the mod never fully stops their ticks.
Who it’s for: Server owners who run large worlds, modded packs with many entities, or farms that must keep working while players are away.
How it compares
Tick Tweaks is server-side only, published for 1.16.5 – 1.21.8 across Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, and is under All rights reserved, so it is not open source. NoTick is server-side only, open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 or later, and covers 1.20.1 – 26.2 on the same three loaders. Does It Tick? is server-side only and open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, with files for 1.20 – 1.21.1.

What the author says
An entity tick scheduler to massively reduce lag (~200% speedup) and resource requirements of entities. Unlike similar projects, this mod will not disable ticks all together, allowing farms or distant entities to still function.
