NoTick
by Riqqqque
On a large modded server, NoTick works as a server-side entity tick optimizer that skips background ticks for eligible distant entities.
What it does
Big modpacks can burn considerable processor time ticking mobs, dropped items and other entities that have no player close by. NoTick reduces that background work by skipping normal ticks for far-away entities that qualify, while entities inside player range, whitelisted entities and entities in protected areas keep ticking as usual. Because the savings grow with the number of eligible distant entities, high-entity worlds and busy SMPs see the largest effect, which can help keep TPS steadier and leave more of the tick budget for players.
The mod needs only Fabric API on Fabric. The Forge and NeoForge builds require an extra dependency mod. Modded mobs and entities are supported through their normal registry IDs, and FTB Chunks, Open Parties and Claims are treated as protected areas when installed. Commands require operator or admin permissions. The code is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 or later, with files for 1.20.1, 1.21, 1.21.1, 26.1.2 and 26.2 on Fabric, Forge and NeoForge.
Key features
Distance-based skipping
Entities outside player range and not otherwise protected have their normal tick skipped.
Whitelists and safeguards
Entity whitelists, mod ID whitelists and dimension rules keep chosen entities ticking.
Claim-aware protection
Claimed chunks and active chunks stay protected, so bases, farms and automation zones keep normal behavior.
In-game admin tools
Diagnostics show the math behind the optimization, and config reload works from inside the game.

Use cases
Who it’s for: Server owners running large modded packs or busy SMPs, who want to cut background entity work and can manage whitelists and operator commands.
How it compares
Does It Tick? is server-side, uses the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, and has files for 1.20 – 1.21.1 on Fabric, Forge and NeoForge. Immersive Optimization is also server-side and open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later, with builds for 1.20.1 – 26.2 on the same three loaders. NoTick covers the same 1.20.1 – 26.2 span on those loaders but uses the Lesser GPL v3.0 or later.
