Sodium FPS Cap Fix

by Riqqqque

Sodium FPS Cap Fix lets players type an exact frame rate cap in place of Minecraft's slider, with values above the vanilla 260 FPS ceiling.

FabricNeoForgeClient-side onlyThe UnlicenseOpen source1.20.1 – 26.3

What it does

The mod replaces the FPS cap slider in the video settings with a textbox. A value typed into the box is kept as entered, so 1337 stays 1337, and the accepted range runs from 10 to 1,000,000. Caps above the 260 FPS limit that Minecraft normally applies are supported, and the chosen value is saved between launches.

The box lands in a different spot depending on whether Sodium is present. Players who run Sodium find it inside Sodium's video options, while a setup without Sodium shows it on the regular Video Settings page. The mod runs on the client only, so servers and other players need nothing installed.

Builds exist for Fabric and NeoForge, with files for 1.20.1, 1.21.1, 1.21.11, 26.1.2, 26.2 and 26.3. The latest file is 1.0.37 for 26.3, released on 2026-10-15. The code is released under The Unlicense, and the project is open source with public source code.

Key features

  1. Exact FPS cap entry

Players type a precise frame rate limit rather than dragging a slider to an approximate spot.

  2. Caps above 260 FPS

The textbox accepts values past Minecraft's usual 260 FPS limit, up to 1,000,000.

  3. Saved cap value

The entered number is remembered after the game closes, so it applies again on the next launch.

  4. Sodium integration

With Sodium present, the field is placed in Sodium's video settings, and the vanilla screen is used otherwise.
