Immersive Interactions
by gayasslily
With Immersive Interactions, players change copper and other blocks by using items on them in the world, such as shears on moss or a brush on a sign.
What it does
Immersive Interactions lets players reshape copper and related blocks through in-world actions: an item used on a block swaps it for another variant. A shear removes moss, a brush waxes blocks and signs, an axe strips bark, and a chisel carves a block. Scraping applies patina, cracking repairs damaged blocks, and interacting with minecarts and boats converts between types. Blocks can also be dyed in the world. The five added items are Patina, Moss Clump, Bark, Waxed Brush and Chisel, and the changes follow data-driven tags, so the set of affected blocks and items can be extended.
Items dropped by the changed blocks are the plain versions, which keeps the inventory from filling with mossy, cracked, chiseled or aged copy of each block. Some changes are reversible through the same kind of interaction, and the mod can be configured to switch individual features on or off. Automatic recipe removals and loot table changes are part of the mod, and tooltips explain how each item is used. Players who already own waxed or aged copper blocks should back up their world before installing, since the existing blocks are affected.
Key features
Copper variant changes
Copper blocks move between oxidation stages, and between moss, cracked, chiseled and aged forms, through in-world item use.
Five new items
Patina, Moss Clump, Bark, Waxed Brush and Chisel are added to drive the interactions.
Dropped plain blocks
Changed blocks drop their plain versions, which limits block clutter in inventories.

Bark is a Fabric mod for 1.21.1 – 1.21.11, with client and server support under the MIT License. Chisel by psejas is a Fabric mod for 1.21, also client and server under the MIT License. AutoOxidize is a client-side only Fabric mod for 1.21 – 1.21.5 under the MIT License, so it needs no server install. Immersive Interactions is Fabric-only for 1.21.1, is not open source, and needs both sides.
