HudTweaks StationAPI

by Telvarost

HudTweaks StationAPI changes several on-screen elements of the Beta interface, from chat history to the crosshair and vignette.

FabricBabricClient-side onlyMIT LicenseOpen sourceb1.7.3

What it does

Players can scroll up and down through the chat history, which holds more lines than the vanilla log. The fade time of chat messages can be changed, and the hotbar can show a tooltip with the name of the selected item. The debug overlay can drop the randomized display of player coordinates, and the crosshair and the screen vignette can each be turned off. An optional display draws basic Xbox X and Y button icons.

The mod is built on StationAPI and loads through Babric or Fabric for the b1.7.3 release only. Mod Menu is optional and opens an in-game settings screen for each of these changes, while GlassConfigAPI is also used to configure them. Because the mod changes only the interface, it runs on the client alone and needs nothing on a server. Released under the MIT License, the source code is open source and is hosted publicly with an issue tracker, and snapshot builds are published alongside the release files.

Key features

  1. Larger chat history

The chat log keeps more messages than vanilla, and the player can scroll up and down through them.

  2. Adjustable chat fade

The time before chat messages fade out can be changed to suit the player's preference.

  3. Hotbar item tooltips

Selecting an item on the hotbar shows its name in a tooltip above the bar.

  4. Crosshair and vignette toggles

The crosshair and the vignette around the screen can each be disabled separately.

  5. Debug overlay options

The randomized display of player coordinates in the debug overlay can be switched off, and basic Xbox X and Y button icons can be drawn.

BetaEdit is a server-required mod with a client-optional role, under the MIT License and open source, and it supports b1.7.3 on Fabric and Babric. KeyF3 is client-side only, also open source under the MIT License and built for b1.7.3 on Fabric and Babric, so it changes only the client side. Freecam StationAPI is client-side only and open source under the CC0 1.0 Universal license for b1.7.3 on Fabric and Babric. Paxels StationAPI is published for Babric alone, for b1.7.3, and requires both client and server, while Craftable Chainmail (StAPI) also needs both sides and is open source under the CC0 1.0 Universal license.

Questions

Does HudTweaks StationAPI need StationAPI?

Yes. StationAPI is listed as an optional dependency, and the mod is built on it, so it should be installed alongside the mod for it to load.

Does the server need HudTweaks StationAPI?

No. Only the player's game needs it, and servers run without it.

Can the settings be changed in game?

Mod Menu is an optional dependency and can open the settings screen, where each HUD change can be toggled or adjusted.
