ZastavkaAPI

by Telvarost

ZastavkaAPI is a library for Minecraft Beta 1.7.3 that lets other mods freeze entities, set music behaviour and read or change block collision.

What it does

The library exposes a set of functions for mod authors. Through them a mod can freeze a mob for a chosen number of game ticks, read how many ticks remain, and change the collision box of a block at runtime. It also covers a few smaller data hooks. Some falling block entities built on StationAPI simple full cubes are corrected by the library, a fix the author describes as temporary until StationAPI handles full-cube blocks the same way.

Music control is the other main area. A mod can detect the song that is currently streaming, cancel the background music, and assign songs to specific biomes or dimensions. Players need the library, while a server may leave it out. It is published for b1.7.3 only, through Fabric and Babric, and is open source under the MIT License. Snapshot builds are published as well. Mod Menu and StationAPI are optional dependencies, and five catalog mods, among them QuickAdditions StationAPI and AdventureBlocks StationAPI, require the library.

Key features

  1. Entity freezing

Mods can get and set the number of Minecraft ticks an enemy stays frozen.

  2. Dynamic block collision

A block's collision box can be read and changed while the game runs, so one block can behave differently in different states.

  3. Biome and dimension music

Songs can be tied to a particular biome or dimension, so the background track changes with the place.

  4. Music control

The current streaming song can be read, and the background music can be cancelled from code.

How it compares

Full comparison

StationAPI is the framework the library builds on. It is published for b1.7.3 on Fabric and Babric, is open source under the MIT License, and works on either side, with clients needing it and servers free to skip it. Good Asset Fetcher is client-side only, also for b1.7.3 on Fabric and Babric, and is open source under the MIT License, so it covers asset loading rather than freezing or music. Beta 1.7.3 Music Discs is for Fabric only and is released under CC0 1.0 Universal.

Which loaders does ZastavkaAPI support?

The library is published for Fabric and Babric. Only game version b1.7.3 is covered.
