Good Night!

by Old Mods

Good Night changes what sleeping does in a bed, giving sleepers a Refreshed effect when they wake up.

FabricNeoForgeClient and serverMIT License1.21.1 – 1.21.11

What it does

Sleeping in a bed grants a Refreshed effect, which makes the player slightly faster, stronger and healthier for a while. Good Night also lets sleeping restore health, so a player who is injured can heal by sleeping instead of waiting. Waking up with healing already applied makes the first moments after a night easier to handle, for example when monsters are nearby or a door has to be passed.

Good Night changes the day and night cycle around sleep as well. Before the mod, sleeping set the time to day; the mod reworks that step so the night is handled differently. The result is a sleep mechanic that feeds into play rather than only skipping the night.

Every player and the server need a copy of the mod. It is published for Fabric and NeoForge, with files for 1.21.1 and for the wider run of 7 release versions. The code is under the MIT License, and the project is not open source in the sense of publishing its sources for public contribution.

Key features

  1. Refreshed effect on sleep

Sleeping in a bed applies the Refreshed effect, which slightly boosts speed, strength and health.

  2. Healing through sleep

An injured player wakes up healed, so sleep can recover health that would otherwise need time or items.

  3. Reworked day and night cycle

The time change after sleep is reworked, replacing the older behavior that always set the time to day.

  4. Easier return to play

Waking up already healed and boosted helps when monsters or obstacles are close to the bed.

How it compares

Inverted Sleep is open source under the MIT License and is published only for 1.21.1 on Fabric and NeoForge, so its single version differs from Good Night's wider run of releases. No More Sleeping is a Fabric-only, client or server optional mod for 1.19.2 – 1.21.4 under All rights reserved, and it works on either side without being required there. Healthy Sleep is server required with client optional, shares a Creative Commons license, and covers 1.21 – 1.21.3 on several loaders.
