FlatEdit+

by Boxadactle

With FlatEdit+, the superflat creation screen in vanilla world creation gains a reworked layer editor, search filters and preset saving for flat worlds.

FabricForgeNeoForgeQuiltClient-side onlyGNU General Public License v3.0 onlyOpen source1.21 – 26.1.2

What it does

FlatEdit+ replaces the limited layer editing of the superflat screen with an interface for adding, removing, reordering and editing layers, with real-time previews. A settings screen lets players adjust how the superflat customization screen itself behaves. Presets can be saved, reloaded later and exported as .flatedit files to share with others.

The mod suits casual builders and hardcore flatworld crafters alike. Structure and decoration toggles let a player choose which villages, mineshafts, strongholds, lava lakes, frozen top layers, desert wells and other features appear in the world. Worlds made with it work with vanilla Minecraft once the mod is installed, though the mod is required each time such a world is loaded. It needs BoxLib and Fabric API as dependencies. The mod is client-side only and released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only, and the source code is open source with a public issue tracker.

Files target 1.21 – 26.1.2 across Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, and the latest builds, 8.0.0 for 26.1.2 on Fabric, NeoForge and Quilt and 7.0.0 for 1.21.11 on Forge, date from April 2026 and February 2026. Snapshot builds are not listed.

Key features

  1. Layer management

Layers can be added, removed, reordered and edited quickly, with real-time previews and improved controls.

  2. Material search

A searchable material list helps players find the exact blocks they want for each layer.

  3. Structure toggles

Villages, mineshafts, strongholds and other world structures can be switched on or off from the creation screen.

  4. Preset export

Custom superflat configurations can be saved, reloaded and exported as .flatedit files for sharing.

Isn't it such a hassle to use external sites just to create custom superflat presets? Have you ever wanted to create custom presets right inside of Minecraft?
