Debug Keybind

by Boxadactle

Debug Keybind assigns keyboard shortcuts to the actions in Minecraft's F3 debug menu, so players can trigger them without pressing F3 first.

What it does

Debug Keybind adds keybinds for the F3 debug menu. Each individual debug action, and certain key combinations, can be bound to a key of the player's choice. The bindings are set through the game's standard controls screen, which keeps them close to the other keys a player already uses. Fabric API is required on every loader the mod is published for, so it must be installed alongside Debug Keybind.

The mod is useful for players who debug or record their own worlds and want the menu's functions on keys that suit their hands. It is also meant to help people whose keyboard layouts or preferences make the default F3 combinations awkward. The mod is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only, and it is open source, with its source code and issue tracker public.

Debug Keybind runs on the client alone, so players install it and servers do not need it. Files are published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt across 31 release versions, 1.14.4 – 1.21.10. The latest file, 17.0.0, targets 1.21.10 and was released on 2025-10-20. The mod was first published on 2023-08-12.

Key features

  1. Keybinds for debug actions

Each action in the F3 debug menu can be assigned its own key from the controls screen.

  2. Key combination bindings

Certain F3 key combinations can be bound to a single key, removing the need to hold two keys at once.

  3. Layout-friendly controls

Keys can be placed where a player's hands already rest, which suits unusual keyboard layouts.

  4. Client-side operation

The bindings work on a client alone, so debugging actions can be used in single-player and on multiplayer servers without server changes.
