Fireball Guard
by Joboblock
Fireball Guard shows a trajectory preview for projectiles such as fireballs and arrows, so a player can see the path a shot will take before firing.
What it does
The mod simulates the flight of shot projectiles and draws a preview line, which lets a player judge where a fireball or arrow will land. Its purpose is to make ranged aiming more predictable in single-player worlds and multiplayer games alike.
Fireball Guard is a client-side only mod, so only the player's game needs it and the server can run without it. It requires Fabric API and is published for Fabric alone, with files for 1.20.1 and 1.21.1 and 1.21.1_1.0.1 as the latest build. The code is not open source, and the work is released under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0. The mod was adapted from hotpad100c's repository.
Key features
Trajectory preview
A line drawn in the world traces the path of a projectile before it is launched.
Projectile simulation
Fireballs, arrows and similar shots are simulated along their flight, so the preview follows the real arc.
Toggle key
A bindable key switches the preview on and off, and a message in the chat reports the current state.
Single-player and multiplayer
The preview works in both modes, though the author notes that using it on a multiplayer server may be considered cheating.

Use cases
Learning ranged aiming
Players practicing with fireballs or bows can check where a shot lands before committing to it.
Single-player exploration
In a solo world the preview helps when crossing gaps or choosing a target at a distance.
Who it’s for: Players who want a visual aid for aiming projectiles in single-player worlds. Players on multiplayer servers should first confirm with the server owner whether the preview is allowed, since the author warns it may be treated as cheating.
How it compares
Projectile Preview is also a client-side only option, but it runs on Fabric for 1.21.2 – 26.3 and is open source under the MIT License. Trajectories is a mod that works on either side, and neither side needs it, for 1.21.8 – 1.21.11, and it is not open source. Fireball Guard covers 1.20.1 and 1.21.1 only.
