Fancy Door Animations - Hold My Doors
by Yomna
With Fancy Door Animations - Hold My Doors installed, vanilla doors and trapdoors open and close with a smooth animation on the client.
What it does
The Fancy Door Animations - Hold My Doors mod replaces the instant swing of vanilla doors and trapdoors with a fluid open and close motion. The animation can start from any source, whether a player, redstone, a mob or a network event, and it changes only how the model moves, leaving the block itself as it is.
The mod is client-side only, so a server does not need to install it and players can join without it. Settings can be changed in-game through Mod Menu, or by editing the config file directly. Manual edits apply on the next world or server join, while Mod Menu changes take effect as soon as they are saved.
Fabric API is required. Cloth Config API and Mod Menu are optional and add the in-game settings screen. The mod is published for Fabric only, with files across 21 release versions in the 1.20.2 – 26.2 range, and it is released under All rights reserved, so it is not open source.
Key features
Animated doors and trapdoors
Vanilla doors and trapdoors open and close with a fluid motion instead of snapping into place.
Any trigger
The animation plays whether a player, redstone signal, mob or network event moves the door.
Double doors together
Both halves of a double door open at once, so the pair moves as one unit.
Adjustable timing
Duration can be set between 60 and 5000 milliseconds, and the reveal point controls when the vanilla model reappears before the animation ends.
Resource pack support
The animation works with existing resource packs and models without replacing their textures.

Use cases
Building with doors
Builders who use many doors in a house, castle or town can give them a smoother look without changing any blocks.
Redstone contraptions
Doors driven by redstone circuits animate as they open and close, which makes timed or automated passages easier to follow.
Who it’s for: Players who want smoother door movement in vanilla-style builds, and server owners who want the effect without requiring a server install.
How it compares
Smooth Double Doors is open source under the Apache License 2.0, runs on client and server, and is published for Fabric only for 1.21.8 – 1.21.11. Well Greased is client-side only and works for 1.21.4 alone under All rights reserved. Stupid Block Animations is client-side only under a custom license and covers 1.20.1 – 26.3, which is wider than the range this mod targets.
