Extended Crafting

by Bubobaric

Extended Crafting adds crafting recipes for items that cannot be obtained through the normal game, and each recipe appears in the crafting book once its key ingredient has been obtained at least once.

What it does

The mod expands the standard crafting table with new recipes that produce items otherwise out of reach in survival play. Examples named in the author notes include the Totem of Undying, the Name Tag, the Slime Ball and Tall Grass. Recipes stay hidden until the key ingredient item is held at least once, so the crafting book fills in as a player collects materials.

Extended Crafting is a Fabric mod for 1.21.1 only, and it runs on the client alone, so servers do not need it. It is released under CC0 1.0 Universal, which places the work in the public domain and is not open source in the usual sense. Its only listed dependent is Applied Extended Crafting, and no other required dependencies are named.

Key features

  1. Unobtainable item recipes

Recipes produce items that the vanilla game does not drop or sell, such as the Totem of Undying and the Name Tag.

  2. Slime Ball and Tall Grass recipes

Slime Balls and Tall Grass can be made from other materials, so these items are available without finding them in the world.

  3. Recipe discovery in the crafting book

A recipe is listed in the crafting book only after its key ingredient has been obtained once, keeping the list tied to progress.

  4. Expanded crafting table

The standard crafting table gains a larger set of recipes, bringing new routes to items that normally require other methods.

This mod massively expands the standard crafting table by introducing essential new recipes for items that can and can't be obtained in the normal game. Recipes only become visible in the crafting book once a key ingredient or the item itself has been obtained at least once.
