Ex Deorum

by thedarkcolour

With Ex Deorum, a world gets a port of the Ex Nihilo progression for Forge and NeoForge, covering sieves, crucibles and barrels for 1.20 and later.

What it does

Ex Deorum is a port of the original Ex Nihilo, updated to 1.20 and beyond. Unlike the original and its other ports, it ships a SkyBlock world type that players can select without any extra setup. Every recipe lives in data packs, and the default recipes cover only items from vanilla Minecraft, so the mod can be played without Ex Compressum.

The mod adds a watering can as a faster alternative to bone meal, which removes much of the need for growth helpers such as Tree Growing Simulator. It has six tiers, and the wooden watering can and a torch are handed to the player at the start of a world, both configurable. Ex Deorum is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only and is open source. It runs on client and server, and the server and every player need it. Files cover 1.20.1, 1.20.4, 1.21, 1.21.1, 26.1.2 and 26.2.

Key features

  1. SkyBlock world type

A SkyBlock world type is included out of the box, so no separate addition is needed to start one.

  2. Watering can tiers

A watering can item with six tiers works as an alternative to bone meal for growing plants.

  3. Starting kit

The wooden watering can and a torch can be given to the player when a world starts, and both are configurable.

  4. JEI and KubeJS support

All of the mod's blocks appear in JEI, and a few KubeJS functions are provided for scripting.

  5. Custom barrels, sieves and crucibles

Modpack makers can add custom barrels, sieves and crucibles through configuration files.

Questions

Does Ex Deorum need Ex Compressum?

No. Its recipes draw on vanilla items, and sieve output is generous enough that the mod can be played alone.

Does the server need Ex Deorum installed?

Yes. Servers that run it need every player to install it too.

Which mods depend on Ex Deorum?

Four catalog mods require it, including Ex Machinis: Divitiae Deorum, Create Mechanical Ex Deorum, NSB Utils and SkyTech Core.

In the catalog

Ex Deorum is one of 8,515 World generation mods on ModsFinder, and one of 5,058 World generation mods for Forge. 13,894 mods support Minecraft 26.2.
