With Enchantment Insights installed, the tooltip of an enchanted item shows each enchantment with a dyed name, a short description and its current and maximum level.

What it does

The mod adds explanations to item tooltips. Each enchantment on an item is listed with a colored name, a plain description of its effect and the level it currently has, along with the maximum level it can reach. Bullet points and indentation keep long lists readable at a glance, and the formatting can be adjusted in the config files.

The enchanting table also shows the same descriptions as hints while a player chooses enchantments, so the result of an enchantment is known before it is applied. Extra information such as the item tags and the source mod of an enchantment ID can be displayed as an option. The mod is a client mod, so servers run without it.

Installation needs Fabric API on Fabric, Forge Config API Port and Puzzles Lib. Enchantment Insights is published for Fabric and NeoForge for 1.21.1, 1.21.8, 1.21.10, 1.21.11, 26.1, 26.1.1, 26.1.2, 26.2 and 26.3, and it is released under the Mozilla Public License 2.0, so the code is open source.

Yes. On Fabric, Fabric API must be installed alongside Enchantment Insights, together with Forge Config API Port and Puzzles Lib.

Does the server need Enchantment Insights?

No. It is installed on the player's side alone, so servers need nothing.

Where are the settings stored?

Settings are kept in text files under the minecraft config folder, named after the mod ID with client, common and server suffixes depending on the config type. Mod Menu can also open them in-game.
