Enchant Innovation
by yyz729
Enchant Innovation replaces player-level enchanting with item-specific progression, so each tool or weapon gains its own enchantment levels as it is used.
What it does
Items earn their own experience by losing durability, at one point of experience per point of durability consumed. Enchanting draws on the item's own level rather than the player's experience levels, and the leveling curve follows the vanilla player progression, with level 1 to 2 costing 7 experience. Repairing a tool keeps it in progress, which gives players a reason to maintain gear instead of discarding it.
The change suits players who want enchantments tied to the gear they actually use, such as a sword that grows stronger from fights or a pickaxe that improves while mining. Enchanting uses anvils and enchanting tables as before, and the mod is compatible with vanilla items and most modded items. Client and server both need it, so the server and every player install it. It is released under the MIT License and is open source, with files for 1.20.1 – 1.21.5.
Key features
Item experience from durability
Each point of durability consumed adds one point of experience to the item that consumed it.
Item-level enchanting
Enchanting and anvil work draw on the item's own level, leaving the player's experience levels untouched.
Vanilla-matched leveling
The experience needed per level follows the vanilla player curve, so level 1 to 2 costs 7 experience.
Strategic enchant planning
Because levels accumulate on each item, players can save a high-level piece of gear and keep its enchantments.
