With -Empty Hand-, a player keeps the hand free by moving held items into empty shortcut bar slots, which the mod reserves for that purpose.

What it does

Empty slots on the quick bar are reserved so they never fill with items, and the hand stays free for building or fighting. Pressing a number key or scrolling the mouse wheel to an empty slot switches to a free hand, and pressing F while empty-handed sends a held item straight to inventory. The mod works on client and server, so the server and every player need it. Fabric is the only loader, with files for 1.20.1, 1.21.1, 1.21.11 and 26.2, released under the MIT License and not open source.

    Empty quick bar slots stay out of the inventory layout, so items do not stack into them.

  2. Empty-hand selection

    Selecting an empty slot with a number key or the mouse wheel leaves the hand free of items.
